As a Neuromuscular Physical Therapist and Sports Massage Therapist I treat pain, injury and soft tissue dysfunction and joints of the body in order to prevent physical injuries and pain of these soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and joint capsules). I bring to the clients an individual and multidisciplinary approach to restore structural balance through functional assessment (postural and range of motion), myofascial release, neuromuscular therapy, scar tissue break down and mobilization techniques, stretching and strengthening. Why this multidisciplinary approach? Because individuals have unique structural compensations and so the treatments must be customized to address their unique imbalances, postures and pains All this also involves techniques as: Soft Tissue Release Positional Release Strain Counterstrain Muscle Energy Techniques Treatment of Myofascial Trigger Points. Additionally, massage itself reduces stress, tension and fatigue enhancing naturally occurring physiological processes to eliminate the build-up of metabolic waste, which may otherwise stagnate around nerve endings and thus triggering pain. It is also a welcome reward after a day's work or some other strenuous physical activity. Maria Villasante
